SAMBA 4, log file = in conf file not recognised #26003

Wanting to change the location go the smb/nmb log files in the cons file under global:

log file = /mnt/nvme0n1/log/samba/%m.log
max log size = 10000

The log files still appear under /tmp/log
Also a directory in /tmp/log/samba, directory is empty

Made the changes in template and configuration file and restarted samba
