Multi Dat Processing

Processing dats one by one manually can be a chore to maintain large collections.

If the check-report-fix steps could be batched for several dats from the main menu it would be a welcomed addition.

I think that what you are looking for already exists... Take a look in Batch Tools / Dir Updater

I did just have a quick look at it.
Just learned that the application differentiates between single dat use and batch dat use.

The Batch tools also request you to add the dats and directories separately from the Profiles, is kind of a complete tool by itself, makes all the other views sort of redundant.

I just wonder if this could be "presented" differently so there is only one mode "batch" and the more dats to the main Profiles view the more they are looked after. Then execute all of them from the main profiles view.

What would you think about proposals to reduce the amount of concepts and views keeping functionality?

Not really redundant, the single profile is much more fine grained because it's Mame focused (with full profiles issued directly from the mame executable) so this induce :

• separated directories destinations for roms, chds, samples, sofwares roms, software chds, etc...
• filters (hardware, support level, play modes, year, system, source)
• advanced filters (catver)
• profile viewer filter (manual selection per software or by keywording)

...while the batch tool is focused for simple profiles (with only rom enumerations by games, like PleasureDome or No-Intro ones)
Technically the engine behind is the same, but with input/output for different purpose
Furthermore there is other batch tools associated and specifically one that should be chained in some cases (tzip) : the torrent verify/cleaner
