Most of the inhabitants of the ancient Thebes #553, peasants, woodcutters, craftsmen... came to occupy the subterraneans, which were inhabited by most of the wanted, thieves, outcasts of the society. When the survivors arrived, most of the capital's rejects agreed to welcome them. However, a small group appeared, led by Thildan, a former Noble of Thebes, who took action against the newcomers, burning down their makeshift homes and stealing their belongings. Tensions rose between the two groups, and the return actions of the survivors became more and more frequent. The latter had discovered a mine, and they were able to harvest valuable resources and develop a camp. A non-aggression pact was established between the two clans, but an event occurred that ignited the flames of war.
A few months after the former inhabitants of Thebes had settled, Thildan and a few men broke into the home of the dean of the small group of survivors, Karl. Cries of pain were heard before Garen, the dean's son, intervened, he managed to put most of the bandits #555 out of action, the young woodcutter watched Thildan flee, smiling from ear to ear, for Karl was dead. The next day, everyone took up arms against the bandits, peasants, woodcutters, craftsmen, women and teenagers. A bloody battle raged, and it is said that the cries of the desperate echoed throughout the cave. The battle ended when Theold, a simple bandit, threw Thildan's head, detached from his shoulders, before Garen's feet. A discussion took place between the two groups, and it was decided to make peace, and all the bandits who were accomplices of Thildan were condemned to drown (a heavy stone was hung at his feet and he was left to sink and drown in the water).
A lasting peace was established between the two groups, of which Garen and Theold were appointed leaders. The mine was used to build houses, harvest precious metals, and allow a more sustainable economy to take hold, while the peasants farmed to feed the village.
Eventually, most of the former criminals of Thebes formed an armed corps of the underground, providing protection against the onslaught of the wildlings, which was becoming more and more frequent. A small squad, led by Garen, of about 35 men decided to put an end to the wildling onslaught. The small group went deep into the forest, ran into a pack of wolves, which greatly weakened their ranks, and five died from the canines' sharp teeth. When they left the forest, they saw huge buildings under construction, it was the new Thebes, and the group of soldiers went there, and offered the nobles their services as mercenaries. They integrated the guard of the new Thebes and Garen was appointed as the chief of the guard. As for the inhabitants of the underground, they stay at home, and most of them refuse Garen's invitation to the new Thebes, finding their freedom in these places. Attacks by wildlings are becoming increasingly rare, as the chief of the guard watches over the inhabitants of Thebes as well as his friends who have remained in the underground.
