During multiball, in current generation pinball machines, you are able to trigger the add-a-ball after all balls drain within a "grace period". I am thinking there isn't but is this something would be of interest if added to the framework or should it keep it outside of the core codebase?
My thinking was to add an additional "attribute" to the multiball entity to support an equivalent grace-period which will delay the ending of the multiball until this grace period. During this time, an add-a-ball could be triggered to resume normal operations.
