Regarding How good is OSM data? - i am not very familiar with either the scientific literature in this field or with community projects but there is quite a few literature - just for example look at https://scholar.google.de/scholar?hl=en&q=openstreetmap+data+quality (not all of this is stuff you would want to link to of course - there is a lot of questionable methodology in this field as well).
Maybe regio-osm.de isn't excellent in it's current form (being in German and all), but provided there is an English translation, this seems awesome enough to warrant a direct link: https://regio-osm.de/hausnummerauswertung/anzeige_dynamisch.html
Especially if they would extend it to all areas covered by OpenAddresses.io (there might be license issues, but I don't think for this use case that should be a problem)
Continuing form here to focus on improvement of https://osmfoundation.github.io/welcome-mat/working-with-osm-data/how-good-is-osm/
