Basic Information

  • Platform: macOS (10.13.6 High Sierra), Newton OS (2.1)
  • Built from source? No

Description of issue

The instructions for using the ROM Dumper package as described in the Dumping The ROM section of the Wiki, indicates that the ROM Dumper window should display the IP address of the Newton device when it is connected to a network over TCP/IP.

This is not the case.

The only information displayed in the window is “Listening on port 10080”.

Expected behaviour

The IP address of the Newton device should be displayed in the ROM Dumper window, as described in the Wiki and shown in the accompanying screendump.

Steps to reproduce issue

  1. Install the ROMDumper.pkg from the current repository onto your Newton device.
  2. Make sure that your Newton device has an appropriate network card and can connect to the internet.
  3. Tap the “Start” button.
  4. The “Start” button will change to “Stop” and the text “Listening on port 10080” will be displayed.
  5. The IP address is not displayed, as it is in the above screenshot.
