My suspicion is that the 700MB PLY probably contains 3 bands of spherical harmonics while the 30MB contains none, or 1.
Since a PLY file has a single set of data properties, in cases like this we had to decide whether to pad the missing data with 0's or limit the export to the shared properties.
Currently we export the shared properties only, so the spherical harmonics are removed from the large PLY.
This choice should be made into an export option so you can choose whether to pad or chop the data.
Thanks for reporting this, I hope we can add the option soon.
When importing multiple PLYs and exporting them to one PLY, data is lost
PLY A: 700M
PLY B: 30M
Exported single PLY by supersplat: 200M
Exported single PLY by postshot: 730M
It seems that supersplat will drop some data when there are multiple PLYs with different point cloud densities.
supersplat version: 1.12.2
