Updates to contributor guidance

Thinking of creating a simple flow diagram with descriptions, like a vertical wizard to provide a simple route to submission. Each stage will have a description, links, guidance. To keep things simple and understandable.

I feel some of the guidance is too much and possibly too complex and needs a simplier interface to each step.
e.g.,

Looked at this and opted with a code tour walkthrough #743 . I feel there is some room for improvement, so will close this for now and open a new one when a review is complete.
