It would be useful to have an "forgot my password" functionality directly on the login screen. How to implement this is another issue. Would it be possible to open a simple browser window on the gdm and display the page https://organization.opinsys.fi/users/password/forgot ?

How do you reset passwords for teachers and students?

I just looked to the qr code feature #721 and I found a demo page with the following text "I forgot my password. Enter your email address and we will send you a link with which you can set yourself a new password." Okay. It's a very good idea to start the reset process with a qr code and a smartphone because the smartphone always is connected to the internet.

But the user needs a working email address in PuavoWeb. The password is not a required field to register a new user account. So I think that most of the password fields in PuavoWeb are empty. Yes, I found the selfservice where a user can set his own email address. Clicking on my own name in the Puavo menu opens a page to set one or more than one email addresses an a phonenumber. Is there an idea to get a code for a new password via sms on a mobile phone?

Yes, the required phonenumber is the same problem like the required email address but most students have a mobile phone but no email address. So scanning the qr code and entering my phonenumber also could be a way to get the login data for my Puavo account. What do you think?
