Since python 3.10, truststore package allows to use system certificates.

It is for example used by pip since its version 22.2: https://pip.pypa.io/en/stable/topics/https-certificates/

Note that Truststore works with httpx: https://www.python-httpx.org/advanced/ssl/#configuring-client-instances.

This looks like a convenient way to avoid having to rely on the availability of a cert file.
