I noticed that support for metadata 2.4 has been added through #1180 and I was wondering if there are any plans for a new release that includes this change?

1201 only affects testing and is not a release blocker

@sigmavirus24 it changes how the metadata is extracted from wheels. It definitely does not only affects the tests.

Your right but it still isn't a blocker and just increases the risk of the release when folks need the release for other important support
