Several domains benefit from the application of advanced algorithms and models to their specific problems. One of these domains is the medical sector, where these algorithms can support disease detection, image segmentation and other multiple tasks. However, the intrinsic heterogeneity of medical data makes the application of AI solutions a complex job. In this presentation, we will review the design decisions taken for the implementation of the CARTIER-IA platform: a platform for the management of medical data and imaging with the goal of applying AI algorithms on the unified resources in a straight-forward way.

Speaker: Andrea V\u00e1zquez-Ingelmo received the bachelor\u2019s degree in computer engineering from the University of Salamanca, Salamanca, in 2016 and the master\u2019s degree in computer engineering from the same university in 2018. She is a member of the Research Group of Interaction and eLearning (GRIAL), where she is pursuing her PhD degree in computer science. Her area of research is related to human-computer interaction, software engineering, information visualization and machine learning applications.

18:45 pm - Q&A
All questions can be asked using the Youtube live chat.
Questions will be addressed at the end of the keynote.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
What is PyData? Writing code to decide who can do what in your app can cover a broad set of cases. The most structure that typically gets applied to this problem area is a set of if statements and roles, but in reality, there are a lot more patterns and structure that we can apply. oso is an open source system for building authorization into applications. And what are the consequences for the people AI is biased against? When MIT Media Lab researcher Joy Buolamwini discovers that many facial recognition technologies do not accurately detect darker-skinned faces or classify the faces of women, she delves into an investigation of widespread bias in algorithms. As it turns out, artificial intelligence is not neutral, and women are leading the charge to ensure our civil rights are protected.

-------------------------------------------------

IMPORTANT

The registration is managed by Can\u00f2drom, so we will NOT open RSVP in Meetup. From there, the student can select their preferred tutor considering their introduction video, methodology description and reviews from other learners.

In Preply we have a strong experimentation culture and in this talk we would explain how we created our experimentation framework, step by step and with production code examples.
