Quarto v1.6.36

To reproduce:

  1. Markdown in Source Mode
This is the first sentence.
Here is the second sentence.
  1. Switch to Visual Mode

  2. Switch back to Source Mode

This is the first sentence. Here is the second sentence.

I gather that quarto uses pandoc to convert to/from markdown.
The pandoc option wrap=preserve might help.

Although this behavior is in accordance with the documentation and wrap: sentence would achieve the desired output for the example given, I strongly support the suggestion. I totally rely on SLBs, and sentence wrap is insufficient for that (even more so, if you, like me, write mostly in German – German sentences almost never fit within a somewhat reasonable line length 😄 ). The current behavior makes the visual editor an absolute no-go for my team.

A slight improvement would be to make the VE configurable as read-only per default.

(Please fix the typo in the title so this issue will be found.)
