Reduce default connected to Internet check

return 5000;

there is a check every 5 seconds for internet connectivity. In my opinion this is fairly frequent for little value.

Proposed Solution

Check internet connectivity only when trying to check for updates? I appreciate that it can be changed with an environment variable.
