  • This is a new bug that hasn't been documented in a closed issue or in the Readme.

macOS version: 15.2
Rectangle version: 3.0.37 (178)

I have started the macOS update process in the morning and upon returning home and confirming some newly requested access by a few applications, including Rectangle request for network. Almost immediately, I have noticed shortcuts no longer working.
Maybe the app itself updated too, I am not sure.

The thing is — settings are synced via iCloud and before allowing network access after the macOS update, the Rectangle on my working Mac was just fine.
So I assume something has gone wrong in the described period of time.
All shortcuts are empty now.

This does look like an important bug to address, however, the crucial question for me is — how do I restore my settings?

It appears that the file com.knollsoft.Hookshot.plist? mentioned in Readme (no com.knollsoft.Rectangle file exists) does not contain shortcuts for me (restored from Time Machine)
Are those moved to iCloud? If so, how can I restore them?

Furthermore, I do recall the same thing happening when using Clean My Mac X — after clean up, Rectangle did lose the same shortcut settings.
I am not sure about other settings in both cases.

Thanks for letting me know. It sounds like a glitch with the iCloud values getting cleared out by the macOS update. This is the first I've heard of this happening, but I'll plan on putting in a failsafe that will prevent settings getting cleared out or back them up so they can be restored. Unfortunately, I don't think there's a way to recover the settings since they are likely applied from the cleared out iCloud values.
