The updater.py file has a line that points to https://raw.githubusercontent.com/K4L4Uz/SFVIP-Player/main/Update.json, but the link seems to have been changed to https://raw.githubusercontent.com/K4L4Uz/SFVIP-Player/master/Update.json. Until that it changed it will fail to install.

To work around this, you can install the player manually from either of these two links (depending on your OS preference) and point the player to the source where you installed it.

I uninstalled and then couldn't reinstall. When reinstalling there is an option to download the player or select the source. Choose the source where you extracted the player to. That worked for me.

...but how you find the file updater.py...??
and in my case i have the sw NOT installed but portable...so i do not really have the option:
"to download the player or select the source"
i realy hope that sebdelsol would not have abandoned us and come in to help...

Sorry, I'm not a developer myself... just a user with with the same problem on Windows and poking around at the source files. The updater.py file is in the source files under src/sfvip/player/ folder. It's up to the dev to build a new package with I'm assuming this fix. I'm not sure who complied the portable version but it would need to be rebuild with the file updated I assume. Sorry I can't be of more help.
