One thing I've noticed while playing with my usual FOV of 110 on the GameCube version of Echoes is that I'm unable to scan things that can be scanned on lower FOV settings, and this can actually make some tricks impossible.
I would like it if the scan distance could be increased along with the FOV so that this doesn't happen.
A good room to test this is Windchamber Gateway in Echoes: simply stand on one side of the room and see if you can scan the cannon on the other side.
This is actually one of the rooms where this flaw makes a trick impossible, as normally you can scan dash off a cannon over to the item and back without the Grapple Beam or Screw Attack. This is a problem when I'm playing a randomiser seed because I may be expected to do that

This is a good idea. In order to do this, we will need to find a good metric for what scan distance correlates to what FoV. I'm concerned about accidentally giving an artificial advantage by having higher FoVs.
