Writing event/route unit tests

Not a bug, just a question.

Do you have any advice writing a set of unit tests for a server based on express.oi? I have a server whose structure very closely resembles Let's Chat. Works great, but I can't prove anything works without triggering it in the UI. I desperately need to reinforce what I've written with test cases (don't we all!), but I have no idea where to begin.

A Let's Chat ticket suggests you guys may not either, and that's fine. Any thoughts you have are still appreciated!
