Latest Signal update crashes

Using a supported version?

• I have searched searched open and closed issues for duplicates.
• I am using Signal-Desktop as provided by the Signal team, not a 3rd-party package.

Overall summary

This is on a Macbook Pro M4, there was an update notification, I accepted the Installation and after restarting itself, I got this error:

I trashed Signal and re-downloaded from the website, and I get the same exact error.

Steps to reproduce

Download the latest Signal on a Macbook Pro machine (Not sure if the M4 CPU is the issue, of the version of MacOS which is the latest Sequoia 15.1.1 (24B2091)). Launch it. Witness the magic.

Expected result

Signal should launch without errors

Signal crashes on launch

Hi @skaag , sorry this is happening; that's a surprising error. Can you try downloading the beta and see if the problem exists there as well? https://support.signal.org/hc/en-us/articles/360007318471-Signal-Beta

I'm seeing this too, with 7.39 and the beta I just downloaded. Man I hate Electron apps.

On a hunch I moved it to /Applications and now it works. It has some kind of bad path handling code internally.
