Currently, if kinovar or wide starts on one line, but ends on the other, highlighter does not "see" it. For example:

Same bug exists in core Markdown highlight in VSCode, reported in: microsoft/vscode#52771 and closed as "not easy to fix".
Nevertheless, multiline comments in JS are properly highlighted. Which means that this is theoretically possible, though may be "hard".
Research this and if fixable, do the right thing (and possibly also PR VSCode to fix that embarrassing bold/italic highlight issue)
