Data: Accept data as drop-down menu option for ages served (lt_3 or gt_3)

In the COPA application system, they capture ages served as a drop-down menu option. An admin can select one of these options: "0-3; 3-5; both"

My question is whether or not we can use this field to map to our database? They are willing to add a text field similar to what we show on the center detail page but wanted to see if we could accept this drop-down option or if they would need to create it into two fields.
