Hi @Lozrus / @gare-bear

I run a plugin called Orderable - https://orderable.com

Many of our customer use Star receipt printers in their restaurants. A number of them have concerns that this plugin hasn't been updated for 2 years, when their staff rely on it.

Many of them also want to be able to customise the receipts.

I'd like to offer my assistance in maintaining this plugin and keeping it up to date, as well as adding these customisation features.

Let me know if you'd like to talk about it!

Thanks,
James

Hi James,

Thanks for getting in touch. Yes this project is very much on a back burner, although not entirely abandoned, I do keep an eye on compatibility and will update it enough to keep things working with new WordPress/WooCommerce updates.

In truth, the solution has so many difficulties with certain WordPress hosts that we would no longer recommend it as the best method to integrate with a WordPress/WooCommerce site. Instead, I would highly recommend using an external print spooling system such as our StarPrinter.Online service in the UK/EU,, which avoids all of these issues, and allows you to send HTML of Star Markup formatted documents. But for those who host their own sites, or have compatible hosting, it works well and is a handy, free option.

We're entirely happy for you to fork the project, or submit pull requests. I was in the process of adding support for action and filter hooks to make the receipts customisable by plugins like yours, but that is unfinished and not likelt to be revisited again for a while unfortunately.

Orderable looks great, I'll make sure that our integration and sales teams are aware of it. According to GitHub you are in the UK, but the Orderable web site shows dollar pricing, where are you based? I'm in the UK, and @gare-bear is in the US office. If you'd like to get in touch with me directly then feel free to use the star-emea.com technical contact form, they will be able to connect you to me.

Hey @Lozrus

I'm in the UK, but Orderable is US based now - so a bit of both. Let me dwell on this and come back to you! I'll probably reach out via the tech form as I'm sure there's more we can do here to truly make it a seamless experience for our customers.

I find it very sad that this plugin was buried. I was able to install it last month, now it's no longer available. It works very well -> install, set up, print -> brilliant, I have never seen such a smart solution before. But after some Wordpress and PHP updates it will surely stop working at some point. Big Risk ... too bad!

@horst-bernd it wasn't "buried". We're not sure why it was taken down and we're looking into it.

As of January 2025, the plugin is still listed as closed on the WordPress plugin repository:
star-cloudprnt-for-woocommerce

Can anyone enlighten me to what the "security issue" was and if it has been fixed? I feel like if there isn't a security issue remaining, we could probably get it reinstated.

The GitHub readme recommends installing from the WP plugin repository and maybe should be changed if that method is no longer available.
