Add my own fields

Hi,
I'm trying to do a kind of customer area on my wordpress site, where logged users can upload files and edit some custom informations of them.

I read on your wordpress.org page that's possible to create our own sections with filters. Can you explain how ? (i'm not a developper, but i can add some snippet to the function.php file of my theme)
