release build (not a hot-reload issue)
using RCPurchaseController.ts from the documentation

As soon as the use dismisses the paywall, the app is being restarted. App.js is reloaded, which is generally discouraged.

It should dismiss the paywall without triggering a reload, just fire onDismiss.
