It would be very helpful to know which manifest doesn't parse. Currently the only error I see is:

2024-07-23T20:03:33.474Z	FATAL	build/build.go:102	An error occurred building the image: configuring combustion: configuring component "embedded artifact registry": configuring embedded artifact registry: parsing manifests: reading manifest: invalid manifest

What version of EIB are you running? It looks like this error message now includes the manifest path, but that change was added 2 months ago and wouldn't have been in 1.0.
