Log in to Falmer is done with https://github.com/sussexstudent/bowtie via GSuite SAML auth.

With this implemented and the fact that Societies are provided with a @societies.sussexstudent.com GSuite account, it means we can implement simple society access to Falmer.

We would need to decide on some very restricted permissions.

  • Adding events (this should be assigned to their society)
  • Editing and deleting events (assigned to their society)

There is currently no link between Students Groups that exist on Falmer and their GSuite email addresses. This would need to be solved.

In the future, this would allow moving society pages on to Wagtail, a massive win for security.
