Describe the question

Let's say I want to sort by size. Once option is set, wherever I navigate it will do it's best to get sizes and display them. That is ok for children of current location, but when I navigate to parent or / root, it takes longer and longer to get and display sizes. That is making the experience sluggish and any further actions are queued. I have to exit and open again to have a acceptable experience.

Is it any config to be able to keep the sort by to current location only?

That is Beautiful. It has it's merits. But when you are programming or investigating a remote system you will not take random folders and put them in a config would you? Could there be a setting to similar to the one you mention and keep the scope to the current folder / or not?.
Something like - On sort, if flag sort, store old settings, do sorting, restore previous setting.
