  • Model: oryp8
  • BIOS version: 2023-09-08_42bf7a6
  • EC version: 2023-09-08_42bf7a6
  • OS: Pop!_OS 22.04 LTS
  • Kernel: 6.9.3-76060903-generic

Battery will not charge above 60%. Tried setting values via

  • Desktop menu power settings by picking different profiles
  • system76-power charge-thresholds --profile XXXX
  • system76-power charge-thresholds X Y
  • /sys/class/power_supply/BAT0/charge_control_xxxxx_threshold
  • /etc/systemd/system/charge-thresholds.service

Rebooted after each of those methods, but even with the service enabled the battery will not charge above 60%. I expected that rebooting would reset as indicated here https://support.system76.com/articles/laptop-battery-thresholds/ but creating the systemd services and enabling it also did not do anything.

Current output of system73-charge charge-thresholds is

Profile: Balanced (balanced)
Start: 86
End: 90

But the battery is 60% charged and just stays there.

Steps to reproduce

Plug power brick to laptop, power on, log in, check power settings. Unplug power brick from laptop, wait until voltage drops below Start threshold, plug power brick into laptop, wait for it to charge.

Expected behavior

Battery should charge up to the End threshold.

Also expect that if system is not charging, but new Start threshold is above current battery capacity that it starts charging. It does not do that.

Actual behavior

Charging stop when battery reaches 60% full.
