There are bunch of other issues, such as System Window Frame not working besides the freezing and glitching issues with things when clicked on.

The System Window Frame is just broken and shows NO system window frame.

Steps to reproduce

Clicking on things Telegram becomes unresponsive to clicks after a few clicks.

Expected behaviour

No glitching or freezing from clicking on things

Actual behaviour

Clicking on anything from group chats, to messages, or within text box, or even opening Context Menu can cause glitching/freezing to happen becoming unresponsive to any mouse clicks.

Operating system

Manjaro 24.2.1

Version of Telegram Desktop

5.9

Installation source

Static binary from official website

Crash ID

No response

I can reproduce on NixOS with 5.10.2 and 5.10.5 packages from nixpkgs-24.11.

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Right click on message input field.
  2. Hover cursor over the context menu.

App becomes unusable after this.

I believe I reproduced with

Operating System: Ubuntu 24.04 based
KDE Plasma Version: 6.2.5
KDE Frameworks Version: 6.10.0
Qt Version: 6.8.1
Kernel Version: 6.11.0 (64-bit)
Graphics Platform: Wayland

Freezes the desktop, sounds are still playing. I have no choice but to forcefully shut down my computer to continue using it.

I am not sure so I will make a separate issue

$ telegram-desktop
qt.qpa.wayland: Creating a popup with a parent, QWidgetWindow(0x7f468edf3400, name="TWidgetClassWindow") which does not match the current topmost grabbing popup, QWidgetWindow(0x7f4678f54d40, name="TWidgetClassWindow") With some shell surface protocols, this is not allowed. The wayland QPA plugin is currently handling it by setting the parent to the topmost grabbing popup. Note, however, that this may cause positioning errors and popups closing unxpectedly. Please fix the transient parent of the popup.

This message repeats when I'm hovering context menu items (after triggering glitch).

Probably a packaging / environment issue: static build from desktop.telegram.org and Flatpak package are not affected.
