Problem description

Termux-window-black
You have to go back to home and click on Termux, or go to the app switch menu and click on Termux, to restore the window once it turns black as shown.

Steps to reproduce the behavior.

  • Enable auto-rotate on your phone
  • Launch Termux in portrait mode
  • Rotate your phone

What is the expected behavior?

Termux's window should flip (to match your phone)

on Android 15 this happened too. Returned that phone and blocked the update on new phone, because thought that Android 15 caused it, but Android 14 is affected too, so will update to new

Am not sure if this affects the F-Droid version (agnostic-apollo says to post to Termux Play Store.

Do you have to uninstall this to test that, or is it possible to install both?
If you reinstall Termux, is your ~/ lost? Is your ~/../usr/ lost?

Thanks for reporting! I think I know what it's about - can you verify if this only occurs when you're using full screen?

Android OS always just shows 1 window; guess what you want to know is if <ctrl><alt>f was used; yes, this was used.
When it is not black, it looks like this (but turns black if you flip the phone).
Termux full window
if you press <ctrl><alt>f again it sort of "shrinks" the window;
Termux shrunken window
and this "shrunken" window does not turn black if you flip the phone, but the "shrunken" mode is undesirable (reduces the amount of code shown).

This should be fixed in the googleplay.2025.01.18 update that has just been submitted to the Play store for review, and should be available as an update in a day or two.

Once you have updated to that version, please check if everything works as expected and post an update here!
