Serial Connections Compatibility

Hi!
I have an android application that needs to communicate with an external device through USB connection, and also needs kiosk functionality. I left the kiosk functionality for the end, and now I have my app running and communicating with my external device as wanted.
The problem is, when I add this plugin and set the app to be the default launcher, my requests for serial communications never respond, they keep hanging forever (till the very end of time :'( ). I read on this other issue #70 that NFC events where having a similar issue, because of the app being relaunched and not being put on foreground for desired events. Is it possible that it is related? I tried the develop branch suggested on that issue but it did not work...
Please help!!!
