  • This is not a feature request (existing functionality does not work, not missing functionality).
I will request features on forum or via support.
  • I've searched and did not find a similar issue.

Describe the bug
Mail app locks up whenever I try to close it. Either manually or automatically (e.g. computer times out and goes to sleep).

Manual selection of Quit Tuta Desktop and automatic close of Tuta Desktop do not work. If either happens, I have to Force Quit to close the app and then restart it to view mail.

This began approx 7-10 days ago.

To Reproduce
Steps to reproduce the behavior:

  1. Go to 'Tuta Mail
  2. Click on Quit tutanota-desktop
  3. Does not close, but if you reopen to try to view mail, it will not.
  4. Go to Apple logo, select Force Quit
  5. Will see Tuta not responding in red
  6. Select Force Quit to close and can then restart app later

Expected behavior
The app should close w/o locking up

I don’t want to create another issue but :

  • if you close Tuta Mail (with the keyboard or with the GUI menu), the window will disappear as it was closing but the app is stuck in the background and won’t quit
  • The only way to successfully close it is to force close for instance cmd+esc, select Tuta and click on force quit

Could it be a duplicate of #8198

Could you please try to update to 259.250108.1? The fix is in that version, perhaps it fixes your issue as well

Hi @Mark-876 , Sorry you're still experiencing this issue.
Because the client doesn't shutdown properly, you might have to kill it manually or reboot. But I'm guessing you probably already did that? Can you please confirm, just so we're sure 😅

Thanks :)

Good morning/afternoon, I was out most of the day yesterday following my early response. Last night, I opened the laptop and noticed there was no 'Tuta failed to close' type message. I later tried closing/reopening Tuta and it worked fine. So is it possible that Tuta auto updated after my last 'it doesn't shut down' note and before I shared the version info yesterday? Either way, it seems that version is working for me too. Thank you,Mark Geil Jan 14, 2025, 04:23 by @.***:
