Does not resolve external chart dependencies from Chart.yaml only from requirements.yaml

I have an umbrella chart with lots of external references in requirements.yaml. In order to move to Chart.yaml I put the dependencies there and now the task to update the dependencies is skipped. If I put back the dependencies to a separate requirements.yaml the tasks are executing as expected again.
