I still can't see it, but it seem to be fixed on Win11 taskbar style. Tried to enable dev mode via registry, doesn't seem to change anything.

This has been fixed in the current release: #3546

Open up EP Properties application, go to taskbar, and set taskbar style to Windows 10 (ExplorerPatcher), not Windows 10. We no longer offer more support on the stock Windows 10 taskbar.

See the release notes here for the powershell script you can run that excludes all the directories necessary in windows defender: https://github.com/valinet/ExplorerPatcher/releases

The powershell script you must run with elevated privileges (right click on powershell and select run as administrator).

Future updates to EP won't be flagged then.

You can also set windows defender to exclude the directory that you manually download EP to so you can install it without windows defender blocking it.

if you get the error: 0x800106ba, it means Windows Defender is not active. You may have another antivirus program active, which means you need to add those files and directories to be excluded in your antivirus program.

Thanks for the reply! Yeah, I tried both. Windows 10 (Explorer Patcher) doesn't work, too.
I did not seem to have any issues with defender, but still applied the scripts above. No change, the weather widget is still not there,

what happens when you try to enable weather?

Nothing. Nothing changes, I don't see anything in the task bar. I get an error while trying to "clear local data", though, but there is no numbers or anything

Did you run the powershell scripts mentioned here? https://github.com/valinet/ExplorerPatcher/releases

Check if the file C:\Program Files\ExplorerPatcher\ep_weather_host_stub.dll exists as well.

Use ViveTool to disable 48984893. I'll leave this open until we have a more permanent solution for this.

upd: just realized I forgot to ran cmd.exe as an administrator, but that didn't change anything. What's 48984893?

The feature flag that deprecates the People button, which kills the button as well as ep_weather.

Also, you forgot a space after the .exe. It should be vivetool.exe /disable /id:48984893
