Considerations:

The HMR is nice so that icons are instantly available without a Vite restart.

However... it's also very nice to not have too many third-party Vite plugins. Those always seem to get stale (although https://github.com/sapphi-red/vite-plugin-static-copy/tree/main is also a third party plugin).
