issue with transmition-cli "Error: invalid or corrupt torrent file" #110

I feel bad junking up the issues with these little problems, but I couldn't find a solution anywhere else. As you can see, I am using transmitions

I thought it could be something to do with permissions, but changing the .torrent to 600 does nothing.

I put it on my ftp server. Add the necessary ftp to the beginning. Also, how do I find the mirror? I am pretty sure it came straight from thepiratebay.org

I can't download it from there. Every time I try it just hangs forever. Just attach it to your comment here.

Alright so github doesn't allow .torrent files, so here it is on whatever I could find

Sorry about that issue. I tried using chrome and the same thing happend, but it downloaded after I 'save link as'

It looks like it's corrupted. transmission-show can't parse it.
@1fabunicorn Can you give us some details to reproduce it?

@rnhmjoj hmm I think I found the problem. when I use pirate-get from root (I am a bad boy I know) it somehow automatically downloads with a .torrent filetype, when really its a magnet!

Does this make sense?

I found this out by using a non root user, and it automatically opens in elinks not knowing how to open a magnet link...

Alright, so when I use the -T tag to download the torrent file, its not working either, now I am confused. How else can I replicate it? Do you want another file?

It looks like torcache.net is dead. The site is redirecting on another domain full of ads and trackers.

How can I get around this. In my pirate-get config file, all I have for mirrors is mirror = http://thepiratebay.org , not torchache.net

On a side note, I would love contributing to this project. Maybe I can start a wiki or add more documentation? OR make the UI more pretty?

The pirate bay doesn't store .torrent files anymore, just magnets; so if you really want a .torrent you have to search a torrent cache for the info hash. torchache.net used to do that.
Replacing it should be trivial.
