As mentioned by eckesolutions in #1:

Add a "src" version as a fall-back solution to the mix.
Now I can get it to work in IE by using a polyfill
( cdn.polyfill.io/v2/polyfill.min.js?features=HTMLPictureElement ).
In the new Edge Brower I get no pictures.
A src version would solve most compatibility issues.
Would be great if you could add it, when you make the 4.* version.
