This requires changes on the server. Discussed in issue 270 in the main Warm Showers repository.

Advantages:

  • Phone can use the full-featured message editor for composing the initial contact message. Provides for spell check, type-ahead, etc.
  • Takes advantage of robust and opportunistic message delivery (i.e. can queue up the initial contact with no network connectivity and have it automatically delivered when the phone encounters a hot spot on the next day's ride).
  • Reduces a significant amount of flaky client-side code. Deleting code is fun.
