Deploy to bluemix creates a toolchain but the pipeline remains empty

I deployed the watson work twitter sample app to Bluemix, and the toolchain got created, and I got a message "Your app is being deployed..."
then I clicked on Delivery pipeline, and I see a warning message - "This pipeline was created but might be missing jobs, stages, or other resources. You can use this pipeline, or if you prefer, you can delete it and create another pipeline."

Why is the pipeline not getting populated? What should I be doing next?

I managed to add the build and deploy stages to the delivery pipeline manually (using the .bluemix/.pipeline.yml file as a reference). And then started a build which then triggered deploy, and am able to see the app working.
