I guess the thoughts here is to present a count down timer on the home page. Something like T- 2d 11h 20m 1s until next event. This sort of feature could also double as a focal point at the event, we could throw the homepage up on the screen and have it count down to the kickoff point.

I think the countdown timer would be good if there was a web based event that coincided with the meetup. Like a highlighted Twitter stream (on the WD42 site) as the event takes place.

Even cooler if we could hook the presentations up as Hangouts.

I like the idea of the highlighted Twitter stream. Might be a good feature
for release 2? I'm going to try and get release 1 across the line this
weekend.

Yeah there's definitely some thoughts around the design that need to be had in order to facilitate these new features. Definitely something that we can pull together for the v2 release.

I also really like the idea of the timer being a way for people external to the meetup to be able to see when we're likely to kick off, and also streaming the slides in some way shape or form. That in of itself is likely something to consider that's external to the site though. But already I'm thinking of how we could relay that information to a wider audience.

If we ever opt to broadcast the event it would be cool if the timer changed to an "ON-AIR" icon, allowing someone to click through to the stream. 👍

The next site should totally be styled as a futuristic guerilla/rebel radio
station... Sounds like we need a future features discussion to.
