This would allow influencing GitHub UI a bit and might allow us to remove some boilerplate from READMEs.

https://github.com/privacycg/.github does this.

Examples (from Domenic):

This is such a good idea! Setting up a .github repository would make things a lot more streamlined. It would also save us from having to repeat the same templates and guidelines across all our repositories, which can get messy.
I checked out the privacycg/.github repo, and it’s a great example. We could start small with things like CONTRIBUTING.md, a CODE_OF_CONDUCT.md, and a couple of issue templates. Later, we could expand it to include reusable workflows or anything else that might come in handy.
What do you think makes the most sense to tackle first issue templates and workflows, or the community guidelines? I’m happy to help with drafting a README.md or setting up the initial files if that’s helpful.
Let me know what you all think!
