@JanPastorek Hi, thanks for requesting this feature update. When you move a file to the selected directory (eg on Google Drive) to then access from your iPad/tablet, what does your workflow look like to annotate? I am currently confused how I can annotate on my iPad and then 'send back to my computer' - would appreciate the support!

Please see original thread here for those interested: #44

Hi, not sure if I've posted this in the right place, would be grateful to get some insight from anyone in the community please if this is visible/needs to be moved

@rohanmtandon you can try asking the Zotero forums. Probably more active than here.

Hi @wileyyugioh - you indicated you knew how to use this feature in #44 & @JanPastorek obviously knows since he requested the feature.
Posting in the Zotero forum will be pointless as this is not a native feature but rather something you have engineered!
Thanks

I wouldn’t say the Zotero forums are “pointless” for this kind of support… There are many more people there, and they often discuss extension usage.

Anyway, I am not too sure which part you are struggling with. Once you send to tablet, it should be available on your tablet via your cloud drive, and you would use any PDF annotation app on the tablet. You cannot use the Zotero mobile apps though, as I believe they only support their own sync system.

In the PDF editing mobile apps I have used, they connect to your cloud drive and annotate that file directly, so you shouldn’t need to “upload a separate document” during the annotation step (unless your app / cloud drive works differently).

To retrieve back to desktop after annotating, yes, then you would “get from tablet”.

Right - so 2 quick follow ups - first, when I hit Send to Tablet, I then have to go to my drive, download it, open it with what ever native viewer I choose and then mark up? And then I have to upload back to drive (as a separate document) and then back on my desktop I have to hit Get from Tablet? Seems more complicated that has to be so just wanted to make sure I wasn't being incredibly stupid lol. Thank you!

"I then have to go to my drive, download it, open it with what ever native viewer I choose and then mark up? And then I have to upload back to drive (as a separate document) " this part can be completely omitted if you have some sync app that does this for you - I use DriveSync Ultimate on my android devices. So in the end, I just send it to tablet, annotate, it syncs back, and when I want my annotations in zotero, I just click get from tablet.

I am using Zotero with ZotMoov in linux and get them in iPad by the specified cloud storage. But where are the options "Send to Tablet" or "Get from Tablet"?

you can define a custom-menu item. just navigate to "advanced options" in zotmoov-settings. you can define the path of you tablet files.
