This is w_scan_cpp - a dtv channel scanner based on VDR (www.tvdr.de) and
it's Plugins.
Written by: Winfried Koehler <nvdec A.T. quantentunnel D.O.T. de >
Project's homepage: https://www.gen2vdr.de/wirbel/w_scan_cpp/index2.html
Latest version available at: https://www.gen2vdr.de/wirbel
License: GPL v2
This program is free software; you can redistribute it and/or modify
it under the terms of the GNU General Public License version 2 as
published by the Free Software Foundation.
See the file COPYING for more information.
It uses (and therefore links to and includes part of)
1. VDR (www.tvdr.de) by Klaus Schmidinger as VDR Plugin framework
2. the VDR satip Plugin ( https://github.com/rofafor/vdr-plugin-satip )
by Rolf Ahrenberg for the SAT>IP support
3. my VDR wirbelscan Plugin from
https://www.gen2vdr.de/wirbel/wirbelscan/index2.html
as the actual 'DTV channel scanner' itself.
4. librepfunc from
https://github.com/wirbel-at-vdr-portal/librepfunc
This is a set of tools and functions which i use in all my projects.
NOTE:
As all of the related third party code is GPL v2, w_scan_cpp is also GPL v2.
NOTE:
The third party code needed to compile this tool is not delivered in this
source package, see chapter 1.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
0. Requirements
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- GCC with c++11 support
- fontconfig
- freetype2
- gettext
- libcap
- libjpeg
- Libcurl >= 7.36.0
- PugiXML
- Glibc >= 2.12
- wget
- GNU sed
- git
- internet connection for command 'make download'
- librepfunc >= 1.1.0 (https://github.com/wirbel-at-vdr-portal/librepfunc)
debian/ubuntu users, the package names are
------------------------------------------
- linux-libc-dev
- libfreetype6-dev
- libfontconfig1-dev
- libcurl4-openssl-dev
- git
- libjpeg-dev
- libpugixml-dev
- libcap-dev
- ca-certificates
for example:
# apt-get install linux-libc-dev libfreetype6-dev libfontconfig1-dev
libcurl4-openssl-dev git wget libjpeg-dev libpugixml-dev libcap-dev
ca-certificates
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1. Get needed additional sources from third parties.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
make download
NOTE:
This step needs to be done only once - except if you want newer versions of the
third parties source code. If so - run 'make mrproper' and start over again from
scratch. There is also a downlodable tarball with the third-party stuff avai-
lable, however i recommend to use the newest code downloaded by this command.
NOTE:
Chapter 1. assumes that you have *write permissions to this source directory* and
permissions to run certain shell commands, as GNU sed, wget, git, make...
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
2. Compile this tool.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Just run in top folder
make
NOTE:
You may increase the compile speed, if you use 'make -jN', with 'N' as the number
of cpu cores. I use normally 'make -j8'
NOTE:
The generated binary is quite large, you may want to strip the tool from debug
symbols. However, if you do, you are not able to debug it.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
2.1. Optional: Install this tool.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
to install with prefix=/usr/local, type
make install
or, specify a different prefix, i.e. /usr
make prefix=/usr install
You may also give DESTDIR variable, i.e.
make DESTDIR=/tmp prefix=/usr install
NOTE: This command requires write permissions.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
3. Usage
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The most important command line option is -f for choosing the frontend type,
choose one of the following:
-f type, --frontend type
What programs do you want to search for?
a = atsc (vsb/qam)
c = cable
s = sat
t = terrestrial [default]
In case of a satellite search, you need additionally the -s flag for choice
of satellite, ie. -s -S19E2. Use -s? for the list of known satellites.
If you choose cable, terrestrial or VSB, you should specify your country
with the -c flag, ie. -cDE for Germany. Use -c? for the list of known countries.
If you want an output format other than VDR (http://www.tvdr.de), you need to
apply also one of the output switches:
-L, --output-VLC
generate VLC xspf playlist (experimental)
-M, --output-mplayer
mplayer output instead of vdr channels.conf
-X, --output-xine
tzap/czap/xine output instead of vdr channels.conf
-x, --output-initial
generate dtv scan table for dvbv5-scan
-Z, --output-xml
generate w_scan XML tuning data
-Y <FILENAME>, --output-dat <FILENAME>
generate channels.dat for SAT>IP DvbViewer Lite
Please note, that not all command line switches are working together,
try yourselves.
The basic commandline help is called by
w_scan_cpp -h
and the complete help with DiSEqC switches or rotors, SCR, (..) with
w_scan_cpp -H
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
3.1 Examples
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- DVB-T/T2 with output=VDR and country=Germany
w_scan_cpp -ft -cDE
- DVB-S/S2 with output=VDR and satellite 19.2 east Astra 1KR/1L/1M/1N
w_scan_cpp -fs -sS19E2
- as above, but output to DTV scan tables for dvbv5-scan
w_scan_cpp -fs -sS19E2 -x
- now also using SAT>IP, instead of local DVB hardware
w_scan_cpp -fs -sS19E2 -x --satip
- DVB-S/S2 with VLC player config
w_scan_cpp -fs -sS19E2 -L
