I've wasted two days trying to get this package to work properly, then I switched to react-native-orientation-locker and everything worked as expected immediately.
At least on iOS, there are several issues with this package. One is that it cannot detect the current orientation if you hold your iPhone or iPad face up or face down. Like when it's lying on the table for example or even when you're holding it just a little bit too horizontal. This is totally unacceptable and makes it pretty much useless in my case.
The other issue was that in order to lock it to landscape left or landscape right, I had to tilt the device two times. The orientation change was detected correctly but calling the lock to landscape right/left function doesn't seem to work unless you tilt the device back and forth back and forth.
I hope I can save someone a lot of time with this post!
