Inconsistent plot on macOS #2

The fit template comparison plots (most of the plot in chap. 8) are generated with matplotlib with the hatch option. Unfortunately the plots are not displayed correctly with the official PDF viewer on macOS (and iOS, iPadOS):

bad_plot_on_mac

whereas the plot is rendered correctly when using a poppler-based renderer on Linux:
normal_plot

The plot also works when using Adobe Acrobat on mac.

One way to workaround this might be:

  1. Generate plots in svg format
  2. Convert svg to pdf with inkscape
