Porting a Custom Board with NXP RT1061 Microcontroller to Zephyr

We’re using the MIMXRT1061DVJ6B microcontroller on our custom board, which corresponds to nxp/nxp_imx/rt/mimxrt1061dvj6b-pinctrl.dtsi. However, I couldn’t find a configuration for this specific processor in soc/nxp/imxrt/imxrt10xx/Kconfig.soc. Which SoC option should we use in our Kconfig file? Would selecting SOC_PART_NUMBER_MIMXRT1062DVJ6A be sufficient?

Yes, a good option is to configure your custom board to use the same SOC part number used on the mimxrt1060_evk board. For more details, see section "Unsupported SOC part number" at Zephyr custom boards and applications.

Thanks, @DerekSnell. I just have a little question. I noticed that NXP includes all the MIMXRT1061 processor-related files in modules\hal\nxp\mcux\mcux-sdk\devices\MIMXRT1061. So what is the reason this SoC part isn’t "officially" supported in soc/nxp/imxrt/imxrt10xx/Kconfig.soc?

Because there is no board supported in the Zephyr repo with an RT1061 derivative. And today, there is no option to test that SOC derivative. For more details, see section "Unsupported SOC part number" at Zephyr custom boards and applications.
