I accidentally missed the documentation line that mentioned inner being the default and was going to open an issue on adding --inner. When looking at the code I realized it was all there.

This is mostly for convenience and UI consistency. Inner is still the default.

Inner join is the default behavior but for consistency add --inner as an option
