Interval Arithmetic

All the attendees were already a fairly experienced programmers, so in the early chapters Sussman and Abelson's more philosophical sections caught our attention more than the practical parts, and our conversations tended heavily in that direction. Anything not captured in the weekly recap messages has disappeared into the ephemeral abyss.

weekly recap message

Greetings!

Another excellent meeting tonight covering 2.1.4, and what the raw material lacked in excitement was more than made up for in conversational sparkliness. Andrey showed us a solution to 2.16 involving non-standard probability distributions and the central limit theorem, and Yomna created an oracle machine for the same task  -- both of those would make great (en)light(e)ning talks. Scott has also volunteered some talks, so we're looking forward to those next week as well (no pressure!).

Next week we'll be covering 2.2.1 and 2.2.2. Hierarchical data structures lead to lots of interesting possibilities, and get us closer to the picture language sub-chapter, which I'm rather excited about.

Happy coding!
