Q: Why is only Chromium supported?

Since the browser extension hasn't been packaged yet, the official way of using Jimmi is by using Chromium (or its derivatives), since it allows for easy sideloading of unpacked extensions in contrast to Firefox. This is supposed to change in the future.

Q: Why do I need a browser extension?

This is due to Cross-Origin Resource Sharing (CORS) when connecting to some Jitsi instances or playing back youtube videos.

Q: Why is my music playback not working?

Please make sure you have the browser extension installed. Also, you are not supposed to join the room via direct url at the moment, because of a browser security feature which disallows music playback if you haven't interacted with the site before. If you are facing any issues, please open jimmi.xyz in a new tab or reload the page (this step is important!) and reconnect by typing in your conference location again.

If the issue continues to exist, please have a look in your browser console and report it.
