RTL SDR

RTL-SDR is a low cost and widely known dongle SDR. The origins of RTL-SDR stem from mass produced DVB-T tuner dongles. The cheapest versions of this SDR can be purchased for few $.

Linux

• Should work out of the box on Linux.
• You have to add udev rules to make RTL-SDR accessible without root.

• AGC is turned off.
• Sample rate of the RTL-SDR is fixed at 960 kbps, then it is decimate by a factor of 5.
